CS/HB 867 (2026), Dry Needling by Occupational Therapists, was approved on May 22, 2026. Occupational therapists performing dry needling in Florida are required to meet the standards set forth in section 468.227, Florida Statutes (F.S.), and rule 64B11-4.008, Florida Administrative Code (F.A.C.), Minimum Standards of Practice for the Performance of Dry Needling.
Within 60 days of the effective date of rule 64B11-4.008, F.A.C., or within 60 days of the intent to perform dry needling in Florida, the licensed and qualified occupational therapist shall submit to the Board, Form DH5122-MQA, Application for Performance of Dry Needling. Please note that licensees may not provide dry needling services until they are authorized by the Board.
An adverse medical incident that is a direct result of occupational therapy treatment involving dry needling shall be reported to the Board within 15 days of the incident, using Form DH5121-MQA, Occupational Therapy Dry Needling Adverse Incident Report.
Continuing Education Requirement: Please note that the Board is required to approve entities that would like to offer the required dry needling continuing education course to Occupational Therapist licensees. Please be advised that the Board has not authorized any providers for this purpose at this time. Once entities have been approved, licensees will be able to locate acceptable courses through CEBroker.
