Rule 64B11-4.001 – Use of Prescription Devices

The Florida Board of Occupational Therapy Practice approved rule revisions regarding the training for Electrical Stimulation Device and Ultrasound Device. 64B11-4.001(1)(c)(d) and .A.C. 64B11-4.001(2)(c)(d) Florida Administrative Code. These revisions became effective April 1, 2013.

  • The revision specifically identifies “students, postgraduates and licensees” completing the training.
  • Online courses are no longer approved for the didactic or performance training related to Electrical Stimulation Device and Ultrasound Device.
  • The treatment sessions required must be conducted under “personal” supervision which is defined as, “the supervisor is in the room with the trainees and actively provides guidance and supervision of the performance treatments.”
